Remove the outer layer of the onion and finely slice it into rings.

While the onions are marinating, toast the bread until it reaches a golden-brown perfection.
Once the bread is toasted, generously spread sour cream on it. Then, layer on the smoked salmon, a few slices of onion that have been dried by excess marinade, and some thin cucumber slices.
Finally, season the creation with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, a sprinkle of salt, and a dash of pepper.
